DECEMBER 09, 2005 --New York--Cipriani Club Residences at 55 Wall Street--a new condo-hotel venture developed by international entrepreneur Giuseppe Cipriani with The Witkoff Group, a real estate investment firm based here--will not only offer the convenience of room service, residents will also be able to order from the Cipriani restaurant just downstairs.
55 Wall Street is a New York City landmark notable for its Greek Revival architecture. Previously, it housed the Regent Wall Street Hotel, a project commissioned by fashion industry billionaire Sidney Kimmel with developer Dick Butera in 2000. Before that, it was home to the New York Merchants' Exchange, the New York Stock Exchange, the U.S. Customs House and the National City Bank. The upper floors of the property, which is now owned by a partnership comprised of Giuseppe Cipriani, the Witkoff Group and Sidney Kimmel, have been converted to Cipriani's signature residences.
The restaurant's devotees will now be able to own the Cipriani lifestyle. Sales are underway with prices ranging from $785,000 to over $3,000,000. The Sunshine Group is the exclusive sales agent. The 106 condos--a mix of studios, one- and two-bedrooms--are fully furnished. They were designed by Calvin Tsao, principal of Tsao & McKown Architects in New York and are available in three designs: Classic, Eclectic or Sleek (inspired, respectively, by Margherita Missoni, Mickey Rourke and Naomi Campbell, the celebrities featured in the print advertising campaign). But, according to Tsao, each style is weighted toward a particular facet of the overall Cipriani aesthetic originated in Venice. "The interiors are a true reflection of the Cipriani brand," said Tsao, "with impeccable taste guiding each selection and ensuring a cohesive vision for flawless beauty."
In addition to the main restaurant downstairs, residents of 55 Wall St. will also have access to a private club offering formal as well as casual dining, a library, billiards and TV rooms, hair salon and barber shop, full-service spa, boutique and concierge service. Other amenities include a spacious duplex fitness center, a rooftop garden and butler and maid service.
"This is second nature to me," said Cipriani. "My family has been taking care of people and providing the highest level of service for several generations." Cipriani's grandfather and namesake opened Harry's Bar in Venice in 1931. In the seven decades since, the Cipriani restaurant brand has extended to New York, London and Hong Kong. Cipriani adds, "To me, downtown is the nicest part of New York City. It's where New York City began. Bringing it back is vital."
